Naples. “Today too, Neapolitans had to deal with yet another disruption to public transport in the city,” says Gennaro Capodanno, president of the Comitato Valori Colliri e del Trasporto Pubblico. “Shortly before 3:00 PM, rail traffic was interrupted on the entire stretch of the subway line 1, apparently due to a fault. For about an hour, since services resumed at 3:40 PM, the many travelers had to deal with yet another sudden disruption, with no alternative to travel by public transport, which is just as fast as the subway, other than using the few rubber vehicles in circulation or walking, under the scorching sun.” On the Facebook page of the Azienda Napoletana Mobilità, the anger of the numerous stranded users was unleashed, with around two hundred comments in less than an hour, obviously strongly negative, about this intermittent operation, with sudden stoppages, of this essential means of public transport on rails. “Who knows if one day we will be able to tell our grandchildren about that day in “Where the ANM, the metro, and the trams have been running smoothly and without any problems,” says one of the speakers. “There are few certainties in life. Your disruptions on Mondays and Fridays are the only certainty left,” adds another. And there is no shortage of bitter irony: “You’re really having fun today, huh? Are we commuters going to push the metro tonight? Let’s see if it starts?” “In truth,” concludes Capodanno, “these sudden stoppages of the hilly metro seem to have become a constant lately. And unfortunately, with the months of July and August upon us and the summer timetable coming into effect, the public transport situation in Naples is certainly not destined to improve.”
