” Even in the hilly area of the Neapolitan capital, which includes the Vomero and Arenella districts, the nightmare of piles of garbage returns. “ Gennaro Capodanno, president of the Comitato Valori collinari, reports the failure to collect solid urban waste in some areas. “Situations that we hoped were just a memory are repeating themselves, which create significant discomfort of a psychological nature as well as visual and olfactory – Capodanno states -. We thought that this nightmare linked to the presence of piles of rubbish was finally over, instead we take note of what unfortunately today is evident to everyone”.
“This morning we could only note that, due to the lack of collection, waste was once again present in several streets, even with the bins for separate waste collection not emptied – Capodanno points out -. Affected, among others, in the hilly district, via Solimena, via Pitloo, via Scarlatti and via Luca Giordano, where solid urban waste once again invaded the roadway. There was also a lot of bulky waste not collected, among which a mattress abandoned along a sidewalk stood out”. “We can only hope that this is a temporary situation, however alarming, also considering the temperature peaks that are being recorded these days, with imaginable consequences, and that, soon, the entire area affected will be cleaned and sanitized – concludes Capodanno -. Moreover, the continuation of this state of affairs could generate repercussions on the already precarious conditions of the overall hygiene-sanitary system. In this regard, it should not be forgotten that, in recent years, similar situations have also led to numerous reports of the presence of cockroaches and rats”.
