“A territory can be defined as having a tourist vocation when, alongside the promotion of popular traditions and its history, it also supports actions to protect and safeguard its treasures which then represent the city's business card. The city did well Lions Club Nola Octavian Augustus to intercept this need by redeveloping a property that is in all respects an integral part of Nola”: with these words the Nolan entrepreneur Francesco Napolitano comments on the restoration, carried out by the Lions association led by Annamaria Silvestro, of the statue depicting the Roman emperor and located in Piazza Duomo.
Yesterday evening the official presentation of the project, supported among others by Napolitano Case, curated by Tonia Solpietro, responsible for cultural heritage for the Diocese of Nola and by architects Giuseppe Mollo and Giuseppe Piccolo. A project not only of cleaning but also and above all of urban decorum that, as Tonia Solpietro explained, does not want to alter the memory that has characterized the monument over the years but, on the contrary, wants to strengthen its function with the introduction of protective benches.
“Actions like these should not only be supported but also and above all encouraged with a plan of protection and safeguard that should be extended to the entire cultural heritage of the city – continues Francesco Napolitano – It is necessary to focus on decorum and urban dignity, fundamental elements for a welcome worthy of the historicity of these places”.
