“I’ve taken the ball and chain off you and you don’t need me anymore?”: the murderer of Orazio Pino, the former justice collaborator killed on April 23 in Chiavari, framed by a phone call to his former lover who had had an affair with the jeweler killed in a parking lot a few years ago. Behind Pino’s murder are questions of love, betrayal and money. Pino, a former mafia killer, had become a rich jeweler in Liguria, a lover of the good life and beautiful women. According to the State Police, the person who shot him with a .357 caliber pistol was Sergio Tiscornia, a 50-year-old construction worker, living in Cogorno, near Chiavari, arrested this morning. Tiscornia, married and father of two children, is the lover of Adriana Hernandez Escobar who in recent years had had a sentimental relationship with the victim intertwined with business. According to the police, who have not yet taken action against the woman, she felt "oppressed and threatened" by her ex. It has not yet been established whether Tiscornia acted on his own initiative or was pushed to do so by someone else. The 50-year-old was in the news in 2012 because at the time he was the lover of Maria Doros, a 45-year-old Moldovan woman who disappeared into thin air from Tigullio; the case has not yet been closed. In the complex investigation into the Chiavari murder, advice provided by an association of deaf-mutes was useful in reading the lips of the alleged murderer, who explains that he used only one gunshot, traces of gunpowder on the car of a friend, a perhaps unwitting accomplice in the murder, and the imprint of a shoe at the crime scene, in addition to images from cameras and telephone interceptions. Many elements were collected by the investigators of the Genoa mobile squad, under the orders of the first director Marco Calì, and of the scientific police service of Rome and the Ligurian capital, coordinated by the public prosecutor Silvia Saracino. For the investigators, the murder was premeditated. It emerged that since 2018, Pino has been followed and stalked by the worker, so much so that the victim began to fear for his life and went around armed with a knife. On the day of the murder, the worker left his van in Cogorno, had a friend accompany him to Chiavari, killed Orazio Pino with a gunshot to the head and had her take him home. "I've taken the ball and chain off you now... and you don't need me anymore? I helped you, but you don't care about my closeness" he says to his lover on the phone after the crime. For the investigators, it is a confession that opened the doors of prison to Tiscornia.
