The symphonic program of the "Orchestra Italia" section of the sixty-seventh edition of the Ravello Festival in Ravello (SA) will open on Sunday 30 June at 8:00 pm. Taking the podium at the Belvedere of Villa Rufolo will be Juraj ValÄ uha, musical director of the Orchestra del Teatro di San Carlo di Naples. The solo voices will be those of the American tenor Robert Dean Smith, Siegmund; the Finnish soprano Camilla Nylund, Sieglinde, and the Faroese bass Rùni Brattaberg, Hunding. The inaugural concert will be the first of 14 symphonic events, all characterized by the artistic choice of offering a peculiar perspective on the dialogue and openness between Italian symphonism and music from beyond the Alps. The San Carlo itself will also present a second concert, on July 18, with a great fresco on film music between Nino Rota and John Williams, again with its musical director Juraj ValÄ uha. The sixty-seventh edition of the Ravello Festival will continue until the end of October with 8 “Midnight” chamber concerts, the section has been entitled “In Wagner’s Garden”, at the Sala dei Cavalieri of Villa Rufolo, five organ concerts in the Cathedral of Ravello, “Lee note di Sigilgaita”, a piano marathon, Catalogue d'Oiseaux, on August 17, and two meetings curated by the City of Science of Naples. The only dance event on the bill scheduled as part of the cultural program of the Universiade is highly anticipated Naples: on July 12th, one of the most famous contemporary dancers, Sergei Polunin, will perform on the stage of the Belvedere di Villa Rufolo.
