Naples. Extortion of merchants in Ponticelli and Barra: Carmine Bosso, 54, believed to be affiliated with the Aprea-Cuccaro clan, has been jailed. Staff at the Ponticelli State Police Station executed a precautionary custody order, issued by the preliminary investigations judge of the Court of Naples at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate, against the man on serious suspicion of extortion and attempted extortion, aggravated by mafia methods and facilitation of the criminal organization to which he belongs. The investigation, according to the precautionary measure, which primarily involved the acquisition of video surveillance images from several businesses and license plate capture, revealed that the suspect, formerly linked to the Aprea/Cuccaro clan operating in the Barra neighborhood, is the perpetrator of the "classic" Easter and Christmas extortions against merchants in Ponticelli, an area that has undergone constant shifts in criminal activity in recent years following the numerous arrests of members of successive organizations—the D'Amico "fraulella" clan, the De Micco clan, and the Minichini/De Luca Bossa clan. Following the temporary power vacuum, criminal organizations operating in neighboring areas attempted to expand into the Ponticelli neighborhood, asserting their supremacy. The man was arrested this morning at his home in Barra.
