The Royal Site of Carditello, once a symbol of decay and abandonment, is embarking on a new path of solidarity and social inclusion, aiming to generate well-being for the local community. This ambitious challenge, thanks to the support of institutions and key social actors, aims to share a sustainable development project in the area with the "Carditello Solidale" program. Among its many initiatives, the Foundation has joined the social inclusion project that provides a training period for the Senegalese refugee. Dahaba Mamadou Lamin who, since April 15, has been welcomed into the Royal Palace and has had the opportunity to start an apprenticeship as a stable assistant.

"According to UNESCO - Explains Roberto Formato, director of the Royal Site of Carditello – cultural heritage should be considered a driver of development, having a relationship not only with the economy and tourism, but also with social inclusion and quality of life. From the point of view of their social role, They are vital public spaces that address society as a whole and can therefore play an important role in developing social bonds and cohesion, in building citizenship and in reflecting on collective identities.”.During the meeting, scheduled for this afternoon, some concrete opportunities for collaboration between the Fondazione Real Sito di Carditello and the SPRAR – Protection System for Asylum Seekers and Refugees were presented, also in light of the experiences gained in other important cultural heritage sites.

"Carditello Solidarity - he claims Mara Vitiello, president of the Solidarci Cooperative – is a further step in the strategy carried out by the Solidarci Cooperative. As already done at the Royal Palace of Caserta, and soon also at the Amphitheater and the Museum of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, we are committed to activating training internships that, on the one hand, allow the educational and cultural growth of refugees and, on the other, contribute to improving the maintenance and usability of the artistic and cultural assets present in our territory. The value of this strategy of ours has also been recognized by the SPRAR Central Service, which recently reported it as a national good practice for all Italian reception projects. But perhaps the most important recognition comes from the proof of the facts: some of the first interns of the Royal Palace of Caserta, once the internship was concluded, with the support of our orientation service, found work as gardeners".

Born in Senegal in 1994, Dahaba Mamadou Lamin He left his country in 2013 to escape the war (Sudo rebellion) that saw him prisoner for 6 months and then freed by the Movement of the Democratic Force of Casamance. He left two sisters in Senegal, to whom he periodically sends money to contribute to their support.

"I arrived in Italy in 2015 - Says Dahaba Mamadou Lamin - after being in Mali, Niger and Libya. I was welcomed by the SPRAR of Santa Maria Capua Vetere and I live with other beneficiaries in an apartment in Santa Maria La Fossa. In 2017 I obtained my middle school diploma at the CPIA of Caserta and attended a training course for aluminum craftsmen, doing a 6-month internship at the Casertana Serramenti company. In 2019, driven by the desire to learn the art of pizza, he attended a course for bakery workers. At the Reggia di Carditello I am learning to manage and take care of horses”. At the presentation, in addition to Dahaba Mamadou Lamin, spoke: the mayor of the municipality of San Tammaro, Ernesto Starry; the director of the Royal Site Foundation of Carditello, Roberto Formato; the president of the Solidarci social cooperative, Mary Vitiello; the national manager of the Arci reception network, Walter Massa; the director of the External Penal Enforcement Office (UEPE) of Caserta, Mary Laura Strong; the director of the Juvenile Justice Center (CGM) for Campania, Maria Gemmabella; the director of the “GB Novelli” prison in Carinola, Charles Brunetti. Conclusions entrusted to Gennaro Carillo, member of the Scientific Committee of the Real Sito di Carditello Foundation.
