They disembarked in Arbatax on the Tirrenia ferry from Civitavecchia and, given their nervousness at the controls, were subjected to more stringent checks by the Border Police. Taken to the Lanusei hospital (Nuoro), they were found to be in possession of 53 ovules containing cocaine in their stomachs and were arrested. The man, Pius Isibor, 30, had ingested 33, while the woman, Cynthia Samson, 27, had 20, for a combined weight of 607 grams. The Nigerian couple lives together in Sassari and both are applicants for international protection. After their arrest, the two were transferred to the Ut prison in Cagliari.
