”With the stop of the Acerra incinerator, the Government, Region and Metropolitan City should worry about where to take the waste. Our city has already given”. This was stated by the mayor of Acerra (NAPLES), Raffaele Lettieri during the presentation of a reward campaign on waste separation. ”I hear news about the upcoming maintenance of the incinerator – explained the mayor – and I believe I must clarify that, first of all, maintenance must always be done, indeed we demand it. And we also believe that the Government with the Minister of the Environment Costa, the Campania Region with President De Luca and the Metropolitan City of NAPLES with Mayor De Magistris should worry, right away, about the management of a possible emergency period, and where to take the waste, because Acerra has already given. But if it is scheduled maintenance there should be no emergency”. Finally, Lettieri presented the project "Recycle and Win", which provides prize vouchers in exchange for recycling, and is aimed at citizens residing in the Municipality of Acerra, holders of the waste tax (TARI) and in good standing with the payments of the same tax. Each participant will be able to go to the incentivized recyclers, among those located in the municipal territory of Acerra, to deliver only and exclusively recyclable materials such as plastic bottles and flasks. The prizes up for grabs for those who recycle the most are bicycles and electric bicycles, supplies of tires, class A+++ air conditioners, 10 car GPS navigators and a weekend in an Italian destination for two people. The project ends in December.
