A sea procession has been organized in Naples on Saturday, consisting of civilian vessels, kayaks, fishing boats, and representatives of NGOs and associations. It will cross the waters of the Gulf to reaffirm, according to the event organizers, that the Mediterranean is a place of peace, interconnectedness, and acceptance. To participate in the procession with a vessel, please send an email to the dedicated address. Boats from Naples, the Sorrento coast, and Castellammare di Stabia will meet at 10:30 a.m. in the waters off Molosiglio. Boats from Pozzuoli, Bacoli, and Nisida will meet at 11:30 a.m. in the waters off Rotonda Diaz. Naples Mayor Luigi de Magistris wrote on Facebook: "This is a zero-cost initiative for the City of Naples, a highly symbolic one, to reaffirm our city's open and multicultural identity. The boats will meet at 10:30 a.m. in the waters off Molosiglio; we will be there, alongside the Lega Navale vessel, which we thank for its availability and the technical support it is providing. Our goal is to support the mayors and Italian and European civil society in their fight against policies that are causing tens of thousands of deaths in the Mediterranean. Let us mobilize in large numbers to reaffirm our solidarity with the shipwrecked people aboard the Sea Watch 3, which has been stranded for over 10 days at the edge of Italian territorial waters without being granted a safe port, while desperate people continue to disembark on our coasts."
