The military then subjected the slot machines to a more thorough check using the SCAAMS and CAST (Control of Devices on the Territory) computer applications used by the Customs and Monopolies Agency, but also supplied to the Guardia di Finanza. Once the tablets with the control software were attached to the slot machine game cards, the Guardia di Finanza were certain that these devices were outside the illegal circuit and were specifically manipulated so as not to even record the volume of the games played. The two perpetrators, both from Capodrise, were then reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere for the crimes of receiving stolen goods and aggravated gambling, as well as administratively fined 12 thousand euros. Further investigations are underway aimed at reconstructing the proceeds of the illegal activity and tracking down the real origin of the slot machines and game cards. The intervention of the Guardia di Finanza is further evidence that illegal gambling, lacking regulatory guarantees, in addition to taking away resources from the State, can translate into a real scam against players, since the game methods and the very odds of winning guaranteed by law are altered.
