Stefano Accorsi will be the patron of the ninth edition of the Social World Film Festival, the International Social Film Festival, taking place from July 27th to August 4th in Vico Equense. "This choice is in keeping with the spirit of our festival," says Giuseppe Alessio Nuzzo, General Director of the Social World Film Festival, "an actor who has always embraced cinema with substance and quality, that reflects and, why not, educates." The 2019 festival will be dedicated to Vittorio De Sica with a retrospective, meetings, and a photography exhibition. "De Sica loved these places," emphasizes Andrea Buonocore, Mayor of Vico Equense, "he always declared himself fascinated by this coastline. A room in the Vico Equense Cinema Museum will be dedicated to him." There will also be tributes to directors Franco Zeffirelli and Bernardo Bertolucci. This edition marks an opening to new languages and technology in filmmaking, with new competitive sections dedicated to virtual reality, vertical filming, and smartphone-based filming. The Social World Film Festival will be presented on July 5th at 11am in the Sala Rocca of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage General Directorate of Cinema in Rome, with director Abel Ferrara as president of the 2019 jury, and Napoli July 19th at 11:00 a.m. at the Sala De Sanctis of the Campania Region. The Festival is organized by the Municipality of Vico Equense with the contribution and support of the Campania Region and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities – General Directorate for Cinema.
