Ensuring a safe and livable summer for those who live in the historic center and those who choose it, including tourists, to spend summer evenings, with this aim the mayor Salvatore Di Sarno signed ordinance No. 78 this morning which decides "Temporary establishment of a pedestrian area in the Casamale area (Via Collegiata, Via Botteghe and Via Nuova)". The pedestrian area will start next week and will be in force until September 30th and will be active on Fridays and Saturdays from 21 pm to 1 am in via Collegiata, via Botteghe and via Nuova, through "the prohibition of parking and free circulation of cars and motorcycles" with the control and presence of municipal police officers.

"Our goal, mine and that of my Administration", explains Mayor Salvatore Di Sarno, "is to safeguard the main historical places of our city and, at the same time, allow citizens and tourists who are present in Somma during the year, and especially during the summer, to visit our beloved Casamale with peace of mind. In particular, via Collegiata, via Botteghe and via Nuova are those streets where there is greater aggregation and sociality, especially young and old, and it is precisely in that area that many religious, cultural and recreational events take place, also organized by local associations. We decided to create the pedestrian area for these reasons and because, due to its architectural conformation, the historic center has no sidewalks so the normal

passage of people takes up the roadway so that the concurrent car traffic could cause accidents. This is an experimental decision that aims to meet the needs of residents and citizens and we are certain that for its success we can count on everyone's collaboration".
