Scafati. The National Anti-Doping Tribunal has acquitted the medical staff, coach and players of Givova Scafati, a basketball team from Campania that plays in A2, because “the fact does not exist” following the investigation launched after the publication of a photo on the Facebook profile of the former coach, Marco Calvani, in which two players, smiling, have an IV needle in their veins and two bags above their heads. The decision of the Tna is contained in four separate rulings read at the end of last Thursday's hearing and comes eight months after the case exploded. The judges, who have thirty days to file their reasons, accepted the defense's argument that tended to demonstrate that those IVs had been administered to block acute gastroenteritis. In those bottles, according to the lawyers, there were 50 ml of Plasil, a practice not contrary to anti-doping regulations which, instead, prohibit administrations of more than 100 ml. The defense team of the club and its members, composed of Paolo Troisi, Virgilio D'Antonio, Florenzo Storelli, Giovanni Allegro and Vittorio D'Alessandro, managed to demonstrate, thanks to the 'incriminating' image, that the bottles were almost completely empty to confirm that they were 50 ml. The two members, already a few days before they were given the drip, were suffering from an acute form of influenza, so much so that they did not take the field for the match the previous weekend. Givova Scafati, in a note, emphasized that it had "always scrupulously respected all the regulations" and that it had "been sure from the very beginning of the absolute correctness of the work of its medical staff".
