UA new seizure along the Irpinia stretch of the A16 motorway between Baiano and Benevento, ordered by the investigating judge of the Court of Avellino, Fabrizio Ciccone, at the request of the prosecutor Rosario Cantelmo with speed limits of no more than 60 kilometres per hour, a single lane for most of the stretch and those viaducts with reinforced barriers, to prevent accidents similar to the one in 2013 from happening again. This time the investigating judge has also decided the measure for the lane adjacent to the barriers of the viaducts seized a few weeks ago as part of the investigation arising from the trial for the Acqualonga massacre. On 28 July five years ago, an out-of-control bus hit the barrier three times and then broke through it and fell from a height of 25 metres, causing the death of 40 people. Today the seizure of the lanes adjacent to the Pietra Gemma and Acqualonga viaducts, in the direction of Baiano-Avellino; Carafone, Vallonato I and II, Lenza Pezze, Scofeta Vergine, Sabato, Boscogrande, Francia, Vallone del Duca and Del Varco. In the overtaking lane, in those sections, heavy vehicles will have to proceed at 40 kilometres per hour, and 60 kilometres per hour for all other vehicles. The former section director Michele Renzi, who was sentenced to 16 years in prison in the main trial, and the managers of Autostrade per l'Italia Massimo Giulio Fornaci, acquitted in the same trial, and Costantino Vincenzo Ivoi, a witness in that trial, are under investigation in the second investigation into the A5. Aspi will have to install the signs as soon as possible and improve the additional barriers already installed after the first seizure.
