Genoa. The demolition of Piers 10 and 11 of the Morandi Bridge is scheduled for 9:34 a.m. Eviction operations began shortly after 6 a.m. to clear the remaining residents of the Via Fillak area, in anticipation of the controlled explosion of the piers. Nearly 3500 people have been evacuated since dawn today. Shortly before 6 a.m., materials were positioned for the demolition operations that will destroy the two stumps. Deputy Prime Ministers Di Maio and Salvini, along with Minister Trenta, were also present. "I'm at the Prefecture here in Genoa because everything is being monitored down to the last detail," Salvini told Agorà. "I'm here to thank Genoa because it has sent a signal of concrete action to all of Italy. Today is a day of preparation for reconstruction; it's a beautiful day of concrete action. Evacuating 3,000 people was no joke, and in a few minutes, as an Italian and as Interior Minister, I will be following the entire Phase A of the demolition." I'm not changing my mind. Those who made mistakes and have deaths on their conscience must pay: but it's the top brass who must pay, not the workers, officials, technicians, and engineers."
