Avellino. The stretch between Avellino Est and Benevento in the direction of Naples has been reopened, closed in both directions shortly after 7 this morning due to a rear-end collision between an articulated lorry and a tanker. The two vehicles lost the load they were carrying – peeled tomatoes and diesel – which spread across both carriageways in the collision. The Fire Brigade, Highway Patrol patrols and personnel from the Cassino Section Directorate of Autostrade per l'Italia intervened at the scene of the event. Alternative routes have been issued: for users heading towards Canosa from Naples, the mandatory exit is Avellino Est, continue along the ordinary National Puglie road system and return to Benevento. At the moment, in the stretch affected by the accident there are 2 km of tailbacks in the direction of Canosa and 1 km of tailbacks in the stretch between Grottaminarda and Benevento in the direction of Naples.
