SIt all starts with the Cherry Festival, which will take place on June 15th and 16th, starting at 19 pm, in the splendid location of Via Roma, set up for the occasion with stands entirely dedicated to one of the most anticipated fruits of the summer season. The exceptional godmother will be the actress, comedian and cabaret artist Rosalia Porcaro.
The Castello cherry is now a guarantee not only for the people of Gragnano, but for anyone who has had the fortune of tasting it. Visitors to the festival will have the opportunity to taste the cherry in all its genuineness and naturalness or to taste dishes with refined combinations. From the morning, Saturday and Sunday, it will be possible to take tours to discover the Valle dei Mulini and the Borgo di Castello/Aurano. The visits will be carried out in the various companies present in the area that are run by the various families of the Castello area. The meeting point is Piazza Cipresso (church of SS Maria Assunta), from there the groups will be accompanied by the President of the Association "La ciliegio del Borgo di Castello" and Agronomist Dr. Alfonso Scala. Two days of surprises, good food and fun, which will see the participation of a very important artistic cast. On Saturday, June 15, the extraordinary group “I Guarracini” will be waiting for visitors, a folk-souled band that promotes the culture and popular tradition of Naples. From 20 pm onwards, there will be singing and dancing to the music of “Popolare Songo”, who with tammurriate, pizzica and typical southern songs will involve everyone present, through the exploration of sounds and rhythms. An entire menu will be dedicated to cherries thanks to the collaboration with the restaurant LaBettola del Gusto, the Cavaliere dairy and the Crema e Cioccolato pastry shop. More music and dancing will brighten up the evening of Sunday, June 16, with the voices of “Zi Riccardo e le Donne della Tammorra” scheduled for 19.30:22.00 pm, followed by the concert of “I Vico” from 2014:17 pm: a journey through natural sounds, voices and virtuosity, the result of research and passion for traditional culture. The event is the result of a close collaboration between the municipal administration and the Association “La Ciliegia del Borgo di Castello”, who have been working for months with great commitment and dedication to ensure that the two days are a moment of aggregation, tourism promotion and territorial development. The cherry of the village of Castello, divided into three varieties depending on the cultivation period and the color of the skin and pulp (Monte Somma, Delizia and Piemontese), is the result of a long-standing tradition carried forward by the families of the Borgo di Castello.
