Cistern of Latina. Three feminicides in a few years and this morning in the town on the outskirts of the Pontine province it happened again. Elisa Ciotti, 36, was beaten to death by a hammer to her 10-year-old daughter who called a relative thinking her mother was feeling ill. The argument with her husband, from whom she was separating, occurred at dawn and then the crime. Fabio Trabacchin, a 35-year-old truck driver, struck her head with a hammer, leaving Elisa Ciotti with no chance of escape. The murder took place in their home on Via Palmarola in the San Valentino neighborhood of Cisterna di Latina. In confessing to the crime, the 35-year-old spoke of yet another argument that began around 4 in the morning and culminated in the crime: a hammer blow, struck between 4 and 7 in the morning, which killed the woman, most likely instantly. Then the murderer escaped with a garbage bag in his hand, an image captured by the cameras, where he had probably hidden the murder weapon which was then thrown into the countryside where the police are still looking for it. The couple's ten-year-old daughter found Elisa Ciotti's body and, around 8.30:XNUMX, immediately called a relative thinking that her mother was feeling ill. But when the ambulance arrived, the tragic discovery. The man, in the meantime, after having disposed of the weapon by throwing it out of the window, returned home where he found the carabinieri who took him to the barracks for questioning. There, a few hours later, he confessed to the crime. “I killed her,” he told investigators who issued an arrest warrant for him, ordering his transfer to the Latina prison where he will be questioned by the investigating judge in the coming days. There is little desire to talk among the neighbors. “We rarely saw them, and never together. I knew the girl since she was a child and I never expected it to end like this, a terrible end,” says a neighbor of the couple. “I was petrified,” he says, “when I heard what had happened.” This evening, Mayor Mauro Carturan called together the city councilors to try to understand what policies should be implemented to stem the phenomenon of violence against women, given that Elisa Ciotti's case is the third in a few years. It was November 10, 2014 when a prison police officer killed his wife with his service pistol and then took his own life in front of their eight- and six-year-old children. A tragedy that left the community stunned. A few years later, on February 28, 2018, the carabiniere Luigi Capasso shot his wife Antonietta Gargiulo in the garage of their home with his service pistol. Believing her to be dead, he then went up to the house and killed, before taking his own life after hours of negotiations with the rescuers, his daughters, aged 8 and 13. Cisterna di Latina is also the city where the family of Desiree Mariottini, the 16-year-old girl who was drugged and murdered in the San Lorenzo neighborhood of Rome on October 19, lived and still lives.
