Two people have been arrested as part of the investigation into the murder of Mihaela Stoicescu, the woman who died during a robbery on March 13 in Noventa Vicentina. The Carabinieri of Vicenza (Investigative Unit and Company) have served a restraining order in Naples on two men believed to be responsible for the woman's death. Carabinieri of Naples contributed to the operation. Maurizio Buoniconti, 45, and Enrico Pace, 27, both from Naples with criminal records for property crimes, have been arrested and charged with murder. A third Neapolitan, the "intelligent" man, who lives in Mantua and had hosted the two fellow Neapolitans, is under investigation. According to the Carabinieri, Buoniconti and Pace, they were "travelers": they left Naples for northern Italy and returned home after the robbery. They did so on March 13th, after having operated in Noventa Vicentina. They had arrived in Mantua on March 11th and tailed the victim the following day. Their plan was launched the next day, following Michaela Stoicescu in a car with cloned license plates, the Mercedes driven by her 33-year-old niece, who had decided to drive her niece to several post offices to withdraw money for her employer to pay for some pallets of pellets. After four or five stops, the aunt and niece, with the latter driving, reached Noventa. There, the young woman entered the post office, leaving her aunt waiting in the car. At this point, a criminal entered the Mercedes, which still had the keys in the ignition, and started it. The robber attempted to throw the 51-year-old woman out of the car, but when he failed, he maneuvered the vehicle to free himself from Michaela, who was resisting by holding on to the door. First, he reversed at full throttle, then sped forward, crashing violently into an ambulance. During this time, the woman hit her head first against the window, shattering it, and then hitting the asphalt. The robber then fled in the car, but after 200 meters, he crashed into a pole. He then abandoned the Mercedes, got into the Panda driven by his accomplice, and fled with €500 of the €10,000 that had been taken, leaving the woman lifeless on the ground. She later died on the way to the hospital. Her niece, who rushed out of the post office after hearing her aunt scream, was helpless. Investigations, checks of telephone exchanges, cameras scattered around the area, fingerprints, and the work of the Parma RIS led the Vicenza Carabinieri to close the case.
