Sonia Palmeri: “I felt great emotion as a torchbearer and as a representative of a Regional Government that wanted this “dream” to come true for so many young people, for our Campania Region, and for our Italy.
I thank Governor Vincenzo De Luca for the tenacity shown in bringing this event to Campania.
Congratulations also to ARU, the regional Universiade agency, and to all the players in this incredibly complex organizational machine, which required months and months of preparation and hard work.
The jewel in the crown are the 70 renovated facilities with approximately 280 million in funds allocated by the Campania Region and which will be returned at the end of the event for use by local communities.

The Caserta stage saw, among other champions, the participation of a large representation of athletes from Piedimonte Matese: Christian Rossolino (basketball champion), Alfonso Pennacchio (motorcycling champion), Sofia De Luca (swimming champion) and Christian Costarella (swimming champion), all great promises of Campania and national sport!
