“Yesterday's meeting on Whirlpool was not entirely satisfactory, but a small step forward was taken. Whirlpool told us that it wants to stay in Naples, in what form we will understand next week when it sits down at the table with us. Everyone has known for months that that plant was in difficulty. Whirlpool wanted to abandon Naples and now says that it no longer wants to withdraw from the Naples plant. My decision to withdraw the incentives has had an impact”. This was said by Deputy Prime Minister Luigi Di Maio on Radio anch'io on Rai Radio1. And then he added: “Absolutely not, they have always known that the Naples plant was not doing well”, answering a question from the host who asked him if he had known about Whirlpool's intentions for Naples. “Luigi di Maio lied to the workers and citizens about the Whirlpool affair. He was forced to admit that he knew about the crisis at the Naples plant, well before the announcement made on May 31 by the company. He did it, as usual, on TV. And without any shame he simultaneously sent Undersecretary Durigon to the commission to say the exact opposite!”. This was declared by the Democratic deputy Debora Serracchiani, group leader in the Labor commission.
