Three hundred thousand visitors in three months visited the exhibition "Canova and Antiquity" at the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, which closed yesterday with attendance over 40% higher than the same period last year. The exhibition, in collaboration with the Hermitage Museum of St. Petersburg and Hermitage Italia, was organized in conjunction with Villaggio Globale International and brought together over 110 masterpieces by the Master of Possagno. "As we bid farewell to Canova's masterpieces and draw the exciting conclusion of an exhibition that will remain in the city's recent history," emphasized MANN director Paolo Giulierini, "we announce, as a symbolic handover, the next exhibition dedicated to Neoclassicism: in November 2020, by virtue of recent agreements with the Thorvaldsen Museum in Copenhagen, the MANN will host a major exhibition dedicated to the Danish artist, who lived and worked in Rome, after a brief stay in Naples, inspired by classical antiquities and Canova."
