The meeting between Dario Vassallo—brother of the fisherman mayor killed nine years ago in Pollica—and the national leaders of the Democratic Party, represented by Stefano Vaccari and Marco Miccoli, lasted an hour. During those sixty minutes, Dario Vassallo "opened" the book and explained his hatred toward Franco Alfieri and Vincenzo De Luca.
"They didn't know," Dario Vassallo says after the face-to-face meeting, "so many details, starting with the fact that Alfieri inaugurated his electoral campaign at the Kennedy Lido, which is under an anti-mafia ban, that on June 29 he celebrated his election as mayor of Capaccio-Paestum at the same establishment. And that the partner of the owner of the lido is the group leader at the Municipality." Hence Vassallo's request to remove the name of the fisherman mayor from the Pd circles in Campania. "I explained," Dario Vassallo emphasizes, "our reasons, that the politics that Alfieri and De Luca do in Campania is not the same as that done by Angelo Vassallo. So we dissociate ourselves and therefore our request to remove Angelo's name from the Pd circles in Campania is more than legitimate, from our point of view." In practice, Dario Vassallo, even if he doesn't say it explicitly, invites the Pd to dissociate itself from De Luca and Alfieri.
The Democratic Party, on the other hand, does not make the slightest reference to this detail and shifts the focus to the investigations to bring to justice the perpetrator and the instigators of the Vassallo murder.
