Excitement and success mark the curtain-raiser for the third edition of the "Aspettando i Barbuti" festival. A long journey, entrusted to the loving care of Antonello De Rosa and in collaboration with the "Teatro dei Barbuti," took place in the evocative setting of the former Church of Sant'Apollonia in the heart of Salerno's historic center. From July 5th, with the opening performance of "Buon Compleanno," to July 28th, closing with "Nozze di Sangue," audiences from Salerno and Campania had the opportunity to interact directly with the many performers, applauding their skill and professionalism. “I'm still in Sant'Apollonia, now emptied of everything,” comments actor and director Antonello De Rosa, “but still imbued with every emotion, breath, gaze, tension, and fear. Not just from the last three evenings, but from the entire month. From when we started until today. When you live a continuous month, you become one with the environment. I'm proud of this festival, of this format dedicated to workshops, and I hope that in the future we can expand the work done with new and exciting workshops. Theater is for many, but not for everyone. How do you close the accounts? It's a positive account in every facet. Starting with Happy Birthday with the kids from the workshop. A beautiful journey, educational, interesting, of research, but not the theatrical research of the 1970s: of research and of the word. A theater neophyte searches for something, the courage to put himself on the line, something that can please him and create emotion. We need to return to the simplicity and power of the word. We looked at the text by Ammazzali and There was a different development after the workshop. Three proud girls, three lionesses locked in a cage. Sant'Apollonia,” De Rosa continues, “was a beautiful vessel for this show. Then the three-day workshop, where "Esserti di stile" and the tributes to Viviani and Eduardo were presented. Naturally, since these were individual groups, imperfections, fears, and shyness came to the fore. I wanted this event to show the audience that theater can be experienced in many different ways and, above all, to be aware of one's own strengths and capabilities. Theater is increasingly formative; it offers us the opportunity to experience people, and during the workshop, coexisting with the group wasn't easy. But it's a single project, beyond our thoughts and differing views. There's only one point of arrival: the show. Theater becomes a wonderful addiction, it makes you believe in your passions, it makes you think that something can change. It was a long, tiring, and enjoyable July. "Blood Wedding," finally, concludes Antonello De Rosa, "is one of the products I'll include." within the winter festival that Chiara (Natella, ed.) and I are planning, also in Sant'Apollonia”.
Waiting for the Bearded Ones. The curtain falls on the edition curated by Antonello De Rosa in the Church of Sant'Apollonia
