In response to a complaint, the Naples Municipal Police responded to a property located in Vico Gerolomini, part of the "Complesso Monumentale dei Gerolomini," a listed cultural property located on Via Duomo in the heart of the historic center. They discovered an illegal bed and breakfast operating in a basement space intended for storage. Officers from the Chiaia Tourist Police Unit found a complete lack of permits for operating the business and structural modifications, including the construction of a mezzanine of approximately 30 square meters. Inside the space were suitcases and personal effects belonging to guests of the property, which was illegally connected to the water mains. The property was seized, and the business owner was reported to the Judicial Authorities for unauthorized construction work on a property of high historical value, subject to a listed property. The tourists staying there were asked to leave the illegal property, and the owner was fined €3.333. The Naples Municipal Police, with personnel from the Central Investigative Police and the Territorial Intervention Group, then intervened over the weekend with a patrol to combat illegal access to the village of Marechiaro. During the patrols, 39 vehicles were stopped and 28 tickets were issued. In some cases, motorcycles hid their license plates to avoid being filmed by the ZTL surveillance cameras; seven people were reported for this violation and reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office.
