Two collaborators of justice, Gennaro Puzella and Antonio Accurso (brother of Mafia boss Umberto, a fugitive for years and the perpetrator of the shootings at the Carabinieri barracks in Secondigliano because they had taken his wife's children), testified today at the appeal hearing in the trial into the murder of Attilio Romanò, who was killed on January 24, 2005, in the cell phone shop where he worked in the Capodimonte area of Naples, due to mistaken identity. In this trial, former fugitive Marco Di Lauro, son of the founder of the eponymous clan, Paolo Di Lauro, is accused of instigating the raid, which should have actually killed the nephew of a "splitter" boss, who owned the business. The filing of the minutes by Deputy Attorney General Carmine Esposito was met with opposition from Di Lauro's lawyers, Gennaro Pecoraro and Sergio Cola, who pointed the finger at the investigators: "These statements date back to 2014 and could easily have been included some time ago." Romanò's family and the civil parties were present in the courtroom, while Marco Di Lauro declined to participate in the video conference. The next hearing is scheduled for October 7th.
