Napoli captain Lorenzo Insigne kicked a fireball to light the cauldron for the 30th Universiade Napoli 2019. A suggestive display of lights and colors illuminated the "eco-friendly" cauldron artificially. This choice saved approximately €180. The final torchbearers were Olympic judo champion Pino Maddaloni, fencer Diego Occhiuzzi, gymnast Carlotta Ferlito, and Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret. The Universiade torch has been lit. Lorenzo Insigne was the final torchbearer. The Napoli captain lit the cauldron. Fireworks accompanied the lighting ceremony, along with the entire cast on stage. The torch entered the stadium with Pino Maddaloni, gold medalist at Sydney 2000, Maria Felicia Carraturo, and fencer Diego Occhiuzzi (three Olympic medals and a world team title in sabre). The entrance was introduced by a video that recounted the journey from Turin to the San Paolo Stadium. The grand finale was a performance by Andrea Bocelli. The artist, along with flutist Andrea Griminelli, performed three songs: "Funiculì Funiculà" with 100 members of the Teatro Verdi Choir of Salerno; "Fall on Me," a duet with his son Matteo; and "Nessun Dorma."
