"Viola," the second single from Cristina Cafiero's EP "Anime," hits radio today. The song, written by her, features lyrics and music, and arranged by Pino Tafuto. The song touches on a sensitive and important social issue: bullying. It tells the story of a girl, Viola, who is constantly picked on by her classmates. Humiliated and pushed around, Viola returns home alone. She has no friends, perhaps because she's seen as "different" because of the way she dresses, or the color of her hair (purple, just like her name). One day, however, Viola will understand that she's not the one who's "out of her mind." She'll understand that she's special and won't let just any bully crush her! She'll continue to believe in her dreams, in her own way, and will send the bully and his flock out for a walk. Because unfortunately, the bully never acts alone; he grows strong thanks to the "pack." We should, therefore, stand with the most vulnerable, denouncing aggressive behaviors that can lead the victim to extreme acts. This, above all, is the message Cristina would like to convey to everyone: "No one is better than anyone else. Everyone is special in their own way." The song is accompanied by a very touching video, directed by Ciro Russo, cinematographer Francesco Morra, and filmed at the Giordani-Striano Technical and Technological Institute in Naples.
“I wrote this song inspired by the story of a dear friend of mine who one day” – says Cristina – “told me about the nightmare she lived during her school years and all the evil that, even today, she carries inside. Heavy words that touched me and hurt me like sharp swords. At that moment, I didn’t know how to tell her much. It’s always difficult to find the right words when it comes to very delicate and still alive issues. But at a certain point, some words echoed in my head. Words that I wanted to shout in that moment. That’s how Viola was born, which is my little way of being close to her and making her understand that she is special and beautiful”.
Cristina Cafiero, singer-songwriter, born in Naples, began studying music as a child and in 2017 she graduated in jazz singing at the Conservatory of Salerno "G. Martucci". Fundamental for her were the numerous internships with artists and professionals such as: Bungaro, Maria Pia De Vito, Serena Brancale, Diego Calvetti, Fabrizio Palma, Nicco Verrienti, Roberto Casalino, Norma Winstone, Luca Pitteri and Giuseppe Anastasi. She graduated from Mogol's CET, where she passed the advanced course as a lyricist. In 2014 and 2015 Cristina attended the Accademia Spettacolo Italia in Rome directed by the brothers Massimo and Piero Calabrese (producers of Giorgia, Mengoni and many others), Fulvio Tomaino, Elio Cipri and Gianni Marsili. The vocal group “Aquarius Project” was born in the Academy, of which she became a part, which debuted in the program “Uno Mattina in Famiglia” broadcast on Rai1. In the same period the vocal trio “The Martucci Sisters” was born, a few years later the group opened the Dolcenera concert in Salerno. Over time Cristina, in addition to deepening her singing studies with Luca Pitteri, managed to live important experiences in the musical field, participating in various contests obtaining excellent recognition, ranking in the semifinals at Area Sanremo and receiving the Popular Jury Award of the ProSceniUm Festival.
