Naples. "The President, the Council, and the majority distance themselves from the serious accusations made against the Councilor. We trust that justice will shed light on what happened as soon as possible." This is what Diego Civitillo, President of the 10th Municipality of Naples, emphasized in a statement regarding the arrest of Councilor Antonio Di Dio, as part of the Rome Prosecutor's Office's "Operation San Gennaro." The councilor was arrested along with five other individuals, including a judge and a prominent Camorra figure, who are charged, to varying degrees, with corruption, attempted extortion, false pretences, and aiding and abetting. "The councilor," Civitillo explains, "had been a member of the mixed group of the 10th Municipality since his election and is not part of the majority, having communicated his non-partisanship in a statement dated February 21, 2018."
