The celebrations for the 50th anniversary of Woodstock in Italy are called FOODSTOCK.
And if the original edition of Woodstock in 1969 was held on the Bethel farm, in Italy too the celebrations will be held in what is the main hub of the best independent agri-food productions in the South, the Residenza Rurale Incartata in Calvanico (SA).
Foodstock is organized by XXXV, RURAL HACK and Residenza Rurale l'Incartata in the beautiful community of Calvanico, in the heart of the Parco dei Monti Picentini, a few steps from Salerno. Main media partner of the event will be SentireAscoltare.
While in 1969 the greatest rock stars of the century played at Woodstock, this Italian commemoration on Sunday 28 July will celebrate the greatest food stars of all time. Now in its 6th edition, Foodstock is a space for expression to investigate, through the relationships between food and music, the main ingredient of the Mediterranean Diet which, paradoxically, is the same one on which the Woodstock revolution was based: conviviality.
Food and music represent an exemplary combination of the identity of a territory and have always met and merged among the peoples and cultures overlooking the Mediterranean.
Foodstock is a postmodern festival. It is the celebration of a union born thousands of years ago and that today tries to give a new meaning to the rediscovery of the identity value of food production, which today runs the risk of getting lost in the ephemeral aesthetics of #foodporn. A day in which music and food mix in an experience of aggregation and reappropriation of the collective imagination, inspired by the spirit that brought young people to Woodstock in 1969.
So lots of beautiful, non-obvious music, selected as always by artistic director Nicola “Nicodemo” Pellegrino, but also the best of quality food production.
In fact, the main stage line-up includes the rock stars of Italian food such as buffalo mozzarella, extra virgin olive oil, pasta and bread made from local ancient grain flours, Funky Tomato tomato puree made with organic tomatoes and without the exploitation of migrant workers and many others.
The decade 2010-2020 has been declared by the UN as the “Decade of Biodiversity”. We are having a party because, for beautiful and important things, it is also worth being happy. Together. Just as Woodstock invited us to 3 days of peace, love and music, Foodstock wants to be an invitation to rebuild a loving relationship with quality food and its history, through music, celebration, conviviality: #foodlove precisely.
For the first time at Foodstock there will be an excellent food selector: Kuoko Mercante Mario Avallone, creator of “La Stanza del Gusto” and “Drugstore Napoli”.
Another new format will be multisensory experiences, such as those offered by a longtime Foodstock food partner, Marsicani (https://www.marsicani.com/), or "Sensi (s)coperti," the pleasure of discovering ourselves through craft beer. We'll play at reviving memories through beer tasting, in a sensory workshop that engages only a few of our senses. The experience is curated by Alfonso Del Forno of "Birra in Tavola" together with "Piacevolezza," "Unionbirrai Beer Taster," "Beer & Food Teller," and "Gluten Free Specialist."
Master of Ceremony: Tony Ponticiello aka Mister Time, the only professional DJ and sound selector of the first generation still in permanent service since 1969, the year of the Woodstock Festival
The stage will feature: “Woodstock Jam United”, a great jam session with the best of southern musicians coordinated by Max Dale and Sandro Honer Fontana; The Wave feat Dj Big Danny (live set), curated by the Consorzio La Rada within the Impact Campania Project. Info: www.stranieriincampania.it; The Cave, alias Carla Freddo, singer and songwriter, with Claudio Cesarano and Mario Paolucci (Freak Opera) on bass and guitar; Kafka sulla Spiaggia, a band formed by Nikkio Del Vecchio, Luca Maria Stefanelli, Gioia Di Vivere and Pierluigi Patitucci; Shkodra Elektronike, Kole Laka feat. Beatrice Gjergji, the project of the musician and producer from Shkodër Kole Laca, keyboardist of 'Il Teatro degli Orrori'; Carmelo Pipitone + LEF (ORk), founder, with Giovanni Gulino, of Marta Sui Tubi; The Drums, namely: Emanuele Bultrini (guitars), David Nerattini (drums), Paolo Pecorelli (bass), Stefano Vicarelli (keyboards-synth); N!ET, a TEKNO project by Kole Laca (Il Teatro degli Orrori) and Nicodemo, with a special featuring by Riccardo Tesio (Marlene Kuntz) + Guests, a TEKNO project by Kole Laca (Il Teatro degli Orrori) and Nicodemo.
A highly respectable musical and food and wine line up put together by the historic organizers of Foodstock, namely:
XXXV, the first Italian startup dedicated to cross-media artistic productions. XXXV creates formats by bringing together and colliding operational and consolidated realities of the national cultural scene including: Sky Arte HD, Whatsapp, Ninjamarketing, MEI, Doppiavvù Design, Ethos, VisualArt, Hobos Factory, Sentireasoltare and many others;
RuralHack, a research/action project that investigates both the cultural and technological aspects of the relationship between innovation and agriculture. The project brings together a network of international universities and is directed by Prof. Alex Giordano of the Department of Social Sciences of the University of Naples;
Residenza Rurale Incartata, also home to the glorious RURALHUB project and today much more than a farmhouse. Located in Calvanico, a small mountain village in the Province of Salerno but easily accessible since it is located only 4 km from the Fisciano motorway exit and the Campus of the University of Salerno.
