As part of the 40th edition of Summer in Naples, the Maschio Angioino Castle will host the song and music show "Già la luna in mezzo al mare" on July 11th at 9:00 PM. This work explores the sea, the moon, dance, the composer Gioachino Rossini, and Naples. The program features a variety of musical, historical, vocal, and narrative insights inspired by the Neapolitan spirit of Rossini, inherent in Neapolitan melodies during and after his stay in Naples. Featuring soprano Olga De Maio and tenor Luca Lupoli, both opera artists at the Teatro San Carlo, tenor Lucio Lupoli, Maurizio Iaccarino on piano, and Andrea Ceccomori on flute, the show will also be enlivened by anecdotes and historical notes narrated by journalist Giuseppe Giorgio. Completing the performance will be the ballet company of the Centro d'Arte Tersicorea led by Gloria Sigona and Livia Spoto. Taking inspiration from the opening lines of Rossini's masterpiece "Danza", the concert-performance aims to highlight and represent, through literary, musical, vocal, and choreographic references, the presence in Naples of the Pesaro-born musician called by the impresario Domenico Barbaja to direct the Teatro San Carlo from 1815 to 1822, while his operas were enjoying enormous success in the rest of Italy. The views of the city from the pier and from the Carmine, glimpses of Mergellina and Posillipo, life at Villa Barbaja, the love that blossomed in Naples between the famous impresario and the famous Spanish soprano Isabel Colbran, who later married Rossini, and, finally, the features of the world and cultural climate of the Neapolitan city that inspired the great Opera Buffa and Rossini's masterpieces, will be evoked through the ideal references contained in the musical, sung, danced, and narrated pieces. The audience will enjoy an imaginative and romantic journey, rich in evocative and evocative echoes, from Rossini's Tarantella to the romances of his contemporaries, such as Donizetti and Bellini, and finally to later composers linked to the sea, the moon, dance, and a jovial and stimulating Naples. Returning to prominence with "Già la luna in mezzo al mare," his works dating from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, include pieces such as "Piscatore 'e Pusilleco," "Santa Lucia," "Me voglio fa na casa," "Luna nova," and "Torna a Surriento." This international event, open to all ages, aims to highlight the beauty of Rossini's work and the connection between his music and that of the immortal Neapolitan melodies.
