Favors, pastieras, fixed sentences, and rigged competitions for young magistrates or Carabinieri trainees: the long arm of the gang led by Judge Alberto Capuano and Antonio Di Dio, councilor of the 10th Municipality of Naples (Bagnoli), also extends to Scafati. Also implicated in the investigation that led to the arrest of Capuano, a former investigating judge of the Naples Court, now transferred to the Ischia branch, is Scafati politician and entrepreneur Alfonso Di Massa, the most voted man in the last local elections with over 700 votes, elected on the Brothers of Italy list in support of the new mayor Cristoforo Salvati. New councilor Di Massa is mentioned in the order signed by Roman investigating judge Costantino De Robbio for one of the charges brought against Antonio Di Dio, the man believed to be the go-between for members of the Mallardo clan and the "corrupt" judge. An episode of corruption also emerged in the Di Massa case: the Scafatista man acted as an intermediary with Di Dio to "facilitate" the passage of a Carabinieri trainee exam for one of his relatives. The incident was brought to light in the investigation conducted by the Flying Squad by a wiretapped conversation between Di Massa and Di Dio, which discusses an agreement, evidently made before the wiretaps began, to "help" the relative pass the exam. Ten thousand euros for assistance, which would have started after she passed the exams. It was March 28th when Di Massa called Antonio Di Dio to find out the outcome of his request for a recommendation, and the municipal councilor explained: "So I spoke about this Carabinieri thing. In the Carabinieri there are two tests: the written test and then another thing that… . So they told me there were no problems. They had to take the quizzes. Once they passed the quizzes, you can rest assured, but you have to pass the quizzes. Then you come to me, I'll introduce you to this person, and you're guaranteed a 100% guarantee."
Di Dio negotiates with Alfonso Di Massa the price of this interest: 5 thousand euros at the time of registration for the competition and 5 thousand euros after the competition. The content of that interception is proven a few days later when Di Massa and Di Dio meet for the first exchange of money. Five thousand euros in cash and the remainder with a check to guarantee the remaining part of the 'debt'. Having received the money, last April, Di Dio - on the same day - calls Di Massa while he is in the company of the commander of the Port Authority Giuseppe Menna who thanks the politician from Scafati for some 'gifts' from Pasquali and to speak directly with the aspiring carabiniere. It is Commander Menna himself who directs the girl to the private secretary of a high-ranking officer of the force to introduce himself as 'that person Commander Menna'. A phrase that 'would have changed her life'. According to the investigating judge De Robbio who signed the order of precautionary custody in prison for Di Dio, the intercepted conversations are extremely clear, and this would be yet another case of a corrupt agreement concluded by the councilor of the XNUMXth municipality of Naples who received money in exchange for his intermediation between a private individual - Alfonso Di Massa - and a public official.
