The Carabinieri of the Noe of Salerno, during the activities aimed at combating environmental crimes, identified and seized an agricultural area in Bracigliano covering 5 thousand square meters, on which approximately 980 tons of non-hazardous special waste consisting of earth and rocks, mixtures or slag of cement and bricks and ceramics were illegally stored. The owner of the land was reported and will have to answer for the crime of unauthorized waste management. In the Cilento area, a quarry was identified in which an inert extraction, selection and crushing plant was operating without an authorization for emissions into the atmosphere, and a municipal waste collection center in which industrial waste consisting of rainwater from runoff and percolation from the yards was released into the purification plant without authorization. Furthermore, in the Alta Valle del Sele, in the Irpino territory, in the province of Avellino, checks were carried out at a storage and treatment plant for hazardous and non-hazardous special waste, bulky waste, waste produced by mechanical treatment, as well as plastic and rubber. The inspections allowed to ascertain, against the owner of the company and the technical director, violations of the rules. Targeted checks were also carried out in the area of ​​the Solofra tanning center (Avellino), where a plant used for processing leather was identified that carried out, without authorization, the discharge into the sewer system of industrial wastewater deriving from the spray water of the leather processing cycle and from the runoff water of the yard.
