The collaboration with the Teatro Eliseo in Rome is renewed for the “Penisola Sorrentina Arturo Esposito” Award, a recognition of high culture sponsored by the European Parliament and the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
Next October, in the foyer of the historic theatre on Via Nazionale, where the greatest of the entertainment world have passed through over a hundred years, from Eduardo De Filippo to Magnani, from Monica Vitti to Vittorio Gassman, the winners of the 24th edition will be announced, with the artistic director of the Eliseo, Luca Barbareschi, president of the section of the award dedicated to theatre and audiovisuals.
“We support traditions so that traditions can then support themselves. This is the Victorian saying on which the Premio Penisola Sorrentina is built. It is an award that has its own institutional nature and great seriousness,” says Barbareschi. “In such a difficult moment like ours in which there is a tendency to downplay things, I am an old man who believes in institutions, having also frequented them, hoping for a deep investment in culture,” concludes the actor and film producer.
The “Penisola Sorrentina Arturo Esposito” Award includes among its list of winners illustrious names from the worlds of culture and entertainment: from the President Emeritus of the Republic Francesco Cossiga to the Oscar winners Fred Murray Abraham and Nicola Piovani; from the presenters Pippo Baudo and Giancarlo Magalli to the actors Giancarlo Giannini, Paolo Ruffini, Lando Buzzanca, Lino Banfi; from the journalists Alessandro Sallusti, Mario Giordano and Antonello Piroso to famous singer-songwriters such as Eugenio Finardi and Ron.
The organization and executive production of the great event are coordinated by Mario Esposito with the patronage of the Municipality of Piano di Sorrento and the Department of Tourism of the Campania Region.
