As part of the ongoing controls on fishing to protect consumers coordinated by the Fishing Control Center of the Maritime Directorate of Naples, the Ischia Coast Guard carried out an operation last night that led to the seizure of over 400 kilograms of swordfish without any traceability document.
The product was found on board a means of transport that was headed to board a ferry departing from the port of Ischia, for subsequent transfer to the fish market in Pozzuoli.
The swordfish that was found appears to be the product of illegal and undeclared fishing activities and, therefore, carried out in contempt of the rules that govern and protect the final consumer, the sustainability of fish species and the protection of the environment.
of the marine ecosystem. Control activities will continue consistently in order to combat the phenomenon of illegal fishing, also to protect the numerous professional fishermen and entrepreneurs in the fishing sector who regularly and legally carry out fishing and marketing activities of fish products.
