On Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., in the historic Aula Magna, the Rector of the University of Naples Federico II, Gaetano Manfredi, will confer an honorary Master's Degree in Architecture on Antonio Loffredo, Parish Priest of the Sanità District.
A figure who in recent times has distinguished himself for his work in the city of Naples and for having, through the promotion of multiple initiatives, declined the Project as the ability to connect the environmental, architectural and historical values of sites and urban spaces, with the consequences on the level of building a sense of Community on which to base prospects of redemption for the Rione Sanità: a proactiveness interpreted, also at a national level, as a model of good practices for the valorization of the common good and which has also fueled a series of research and operational experimentation activities in collaboration with the Department of Architecture.
The enhancement projects launched by Antonio Loffredo in the Rione Sanità have transformed into generative paths of development and social redemption, transforming the monuments into active and propulsive elements in the daily life and present of their inhabitants, who have become aware custodians, showing the ability of places, architecture and urban spaces, as well as art, to support and promote relationships between people, to give quality to their daily lives and to build communities.
His work expresses an innovative and fertile vision of the use of common goods and public space, through sensitive, inclusive and bottom-up practices, thus demonstrating an understanding of the true meaning of planning and the civil and ethical role of Architecture, which condenses culture, memory, human relations and development prospects into the physical form of spaces.
The ceremony will be introduced by speeches by Gaetano Manfredi, Rector of the University Federico II, Piero Salatino, President of the Polytechnic School and Basic Sciences University of Naples Federico II and Michelangelo Russo, Director of the Department of Architecture University of Naples Federico II.
