Naples. After 14 years of family battles, Naples, and especially the Ponticelli neighborhood, will finally remember Francesco Paolillo, the fourteen-year-old who died in 2005 at a construction site on Viale Carlo Miranda, falling from a low wall while trying to help a peer in distress. The news is now official, with the approval of the Naples Prefecture. All that's left to do is organize the naming ceremony.
Already last April, the Naples City Council had approved, on the proposal of Mayor Luigi de Magistris and Councilor for Toponymy Alessandra Clemente, the resolution to name a street in the Ponticelli neighborhood after Francesco Paolillo. The street named after Francesco will be right in front of the building where his family lives in Ponticelli. “It is not easy to react to an emotion like that,” explains Alessandro Paolillo, Francesco’s brother, president of the Association that wants to remember the dead fourteen-year-old, “after 14 years of battles on my part and on the part of the whole family. We are particularly grateful to all those who supported us. Francesco deserves to be recognized as a victim of the State because he died to save another young human life like his.”
