Naples. The first day of the Naples Universiade kicked off with a shocking embarrassment, as last night a 23-year-old athlete from Congo, participating in the event, was mugged and injured. The young man was knocked to the ground by thugs who stole his cell phone. Rescued on the scene by 118 paramedics, he later had his medical report filed upon his return to Nocera Inferiore, where he is staying. The attack occurred on Via Claudio, in the Fuorigrotta neighborhood, near the San Paolo Stadium, where the Universiade opening ceremony was taking place. Officers from the San Paolo Police Station are investigating the incident.
