Naples. “A young foreigner from a Universiade delegation, staying on one of the cruise ships that act as a village in the Port of Naples, was the victim of a “package” in Via Marina. A pair of scammers took all the money he had with him, promising to sell him a tablet and a cell phone, but instead gave him a brick and an empty package. The great Universiade event, unfortunately, is awakening the basest appetites of criminals and scammers. In three days, two episodes have seen members of the delegations that came to the city as victims. This is an excess that the city cannot afford”. These are the words of the regional councilor of the Greens Francesco Emilio Borrelli and the host of “La Radiazza” on Radio Marte Gianni Simioli. “We ask all decent people to direct and lend a hand to all foreigners who are in the city, especially when they are victims of episodes like this. For example, by giving him a hand to intercept a police car or by giving him directions to the location of police stations and law enforcement posts. “It was a very ugly scene,” explains the shopkeeper who intercepted the boy who was the victim of the scam. “We saw him on the street with a scared face and asked him why. At that point he explained to us what had happened. What a shame. They took away all the money he had with him, about 250 euros. He explained to us that he was part of a delegation of the Universiade and that he was staying on one of the ships in the port. We gave him a hand, giving him a sandwich. But we felt deeply uncomfortable about what had happened.”
