Naples. The scooter of Green Party regional councilor Francesco Emilio Borrelli was completely destroyed by flames. Around 1:00 AM, flames engulfed the regional deputy's scooter for reasons still under investigation. The councilor believes it was clearly arson. "I don't give a damn, I won't back down an inch," Borrelli commented live on Facebook. Thanks to the help of some residents, the fire was extinguished with fire extinguishers, and the councilor was able to retrieve his backpack from the scooter's trunk. The police are investigating the incident, having received a complaint from the politician. This isn't the first time Councilor Borrelli has received threats, especially for his work fighting illegal parking in Naples. In some cases, he has even been subjected to physical violence, but many have expressed their solidarity with the sad incident. I've never been afraid of the intimidation I've received, which, as far as I'm concerned, is a sign we're working in the right direction. My scooter had already been the target of other reprisals after reports were filed against some illegal parking attendants. In particular, in Santa Lucia they smashed my windshield, and on Via Costantinopoli they slashed my tires. The criminals must know that we won't back down an inch; in fact, we'll be even tougher. They just grounded me for a few days. I thank Prosecutor Melillo, who immediately expressed his solidarity, Municipal Police Commander Esposito, the head of the Flying Squad and the DIGOS, and the many citizens who have expressed and are expressing their solidarity.(emidav).
