Naples. “During the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, a new fire, obviously of malicious origin, occurred in via Monteoliveto, a stone’s throw from the central post office. This is yet another chapter in a long series of incidents of this type that have been occurring in the center of Naples for months. Faced with such a high number of fires, it is particularly difficult for us to think of a coincidence. We suspect that criminal interests may be behind the fires in the dumpsters.” These are the words of the regional councilor of the Greens Francesco Emilio Borrelli, the councilor of the Sole che Ride in the II Municipality Salvatore Iodice and the councilor for the Environment of the II Municipality Roberto Marino. “In light of these suspicions – they continue – we have sent a report to the Public Prosecutor’s Office to inform the judiciary of a phenomenon that is now taking on disturbing contours. For years we have been working hard to keep the city away from any type of waste-related emergency and we cannot accept in any way that some criminal acts in such a way as to create inconvenience”.
