There was emotion and smiles in the reception room at the San Paolo Stadium shortly before the opening ceremony of the Universiade: the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, met with little Noemi, the girl seriously injured in a Camorra ambush on May 3rd. "How are you?" the Head of State asked the emotional girl, after kissing and hugging her. "Better, fortunately," everyone in attendance responded in unison. Also present in the reception room at the San Paolo during Mattarella's meeting with little Noemi, accompanied by her parents, were the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Roberto Fico; the President of Campania, Vincenzo De Luca; the Mayor of Naples, Luigi de Magistris; the President of the Italian National Olympic Committee, Giovanni Malago'; the Undersecretary to the Prime Minister's Office, Giancarlo Giorgetti; and the President of the University Sports Federation, Oleg Matytsin.
