Camorra Murder: 7 Members of the “Five Families of Secongliano” Arrested

The Carabinieri of Castello di Cisterna have arrested seven people for the murder of Emilio Forino on August 4, 2011. They are high-ranking members of the "five Secondigliano families" of the Camorra. The precautionary measures were issued by the preliminary investigations judge of the Court of Naples, following extensive investigations conducted by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate—based on statements from collaborators with justice, wiretaps, and a wealth of evidence—which allowed the reconstruction of the instigators and perpetrators of the crime. Forino was a member of the Ferone clan, dominant in northern Naples, which arose from the split between the Amato and Pagano clans. The murder was particularly brutal because his killers, whom he believed to be his associates, took him to Casavatore, where he believed he would receive a lesser punishment due to disagreements with Ernesto Ferone. Instead, he was murdered in cold blood and left on the sidewalk.

As reconstructed, Emilio Forino had distanced himself from the Ferones to get closer to the Marinos and his killing was requested by Ernesto Ferone and Vincenzo Pagano to the Five Families cartel. The murder led to the temporary marginalization of the criminal group that operated on the Case Celesti until the internal split that exploded with the murder of Ciro Nocerino in September 2011.

The individuals affected by the precautionary measure are among the leading figures of the Five Families of Secondigliano.
