From July 5th to August 30th, every Friday at 11.00:XNUMX am, the assistants for the use of the Paestum Archaeological Park will guide visitors through the museum's display cases to discover the Paestum ceramics. The object of attention will also be small ceramic fragments that will allow the development of an interesting debate on the foundation of Poseidonia and on who were the colonists who came to live here. For a long time the inhabitants of Paestum imported the famous black-figure and red-figure vases from Greece. Then in the XNUMXth century BC things changed: from the workshops of Paestum began to emerge splendid decorated ceramics, with an unmistakable style and motifs that intertwined myth with scenes of everyday life and irresistible comic caricatures. These were the vases that would later enrich the grave goods of the painted tombs. And it was in the workshops of Paestum that the only two “vase painters” of the Magna Graecia world who signed their masterpieces were active, Assteas and Python, that visitors will discover together during this journey in the museum. All this, and much more, will animate the stories about the ceramics of Paestum in the new visit itinerary Paestum ceramica.
