Poggioreale is preparing to experience a new 'July 12' (like the one in 1968) announce the Neapolitan movements in solidarity with the detainees, who yesterday evening met in the O Sgarrupato center in vico Lepre to prepare the mobilization called for next Friday at 18,30:2 pm in front of the prison on the Piazzale Cenni side. The relatives of the detainees of Poggioreale call to gather all the people who are in solidarity with the detainees and invite them to bring "pots and wooden spoons to make us heard as much as possible by the detainees". The protest was born from the need to once again bring to the attention of the national media the extreme conditions of degradation in which the Poggioreale facility finds itself and after the episodes that occurred last month in the prison, from the death of three inmates (16 are cases of suicide) in just three days to the revolt of June 200th that involved all the inmates, over 1600, in the Salerno pavilion who asked for the hospitalization of another inmate. "In the face of approximately 2400 places - denounce the relatives of the inmates of Poggioreale - approximately 9 inmates are locked up; to this are added unacceptable health conditions, the absolute lack of medical assistance. Today it seems even more urgent to fight against the prison institution, especially in a phase in which justicialism and penal populism invade and dominate public discourse". In the meantime, the 'prison emergency' will also be discussed in Naples on July 10, during an initiative called on the day of the strike by Italian criminal lawyers, in the courthouse from XNUMX am. In addition to the reports of the guarantor Palma and the coordinator of the ministerial commission for the reform of the penitentiary system Glauco Giostra, speeches are also planned, among others, by the director of the Poggioreale prison Maria Luisa Palma, the president of the Court of Appeal of Naples, Giuseppe De Carolis di Prossedi, Luigi Riello, Attorney General at the Court of Appeal of Naples, the prosecutor of Naples, Giovanni Melillo and representatives of Ristretti Orizzonti, a newspaper of information on prisons, and of the association Antigone for the rights of prisoners and other institutional representatives and of the legal world.
