The political movement Pozzuoli ORA will also participate in the assembly organized by the Phlegraean coordination "Mare Libero", scheduled for July 4th in Pozzuoli at 6:30 pm, in Piazza 2 Marzo 1970. "In our city," explains Riccardo Volpe, spokesperson for Pozzuoli ORA, "there are continuous anomalies along the coast: illegal construction on Licola Mare, gates, metal fences and toll gates in Lucrino. Just to name a few. We believe," continues Volpe, "that the battle for a free sea is administrative but also cultural and awareness-raising. We must start to rebel and demand our rights, such as the right to go to the beach without having to pay a fee, the right to enjoy a clean sea. The news of recent weeks leaves us astonished. Discharges into the sea must absolutely be prohibited, the municipality must on the one hand engage the Metropolitan city for the Borbonico collector that ends right on Via Napoli and become the promoter of the definitive resolution of discharges into the Camaldoli riverbed, which ends exactly as it is in Licola Mare”.

The public meeting is just one of the many initiatives launched by the Flegreo Mare Libero Coordination. Pozzuoli ORA, for its part, has already asked questions and made proposals in the municipal rooms. “The issue has kept us busy for years on two fronts – says the municipal councilor of Pozzuoli ORA Raffaele Postiglione – on the one hand the health of our sea and on the other the right of access that must absolutely be guaranteed to everyone. In these two years of council activity we have put forward concrete proposals to stem the phenomenon of discharges and to give life to the expansion of the quota of free equipped beach. The sea belongs to everyone – concludes Postiglione – there are those who behave like masters. The time has come to say enough”.
