Elegance, haute couture, and culture are the main protagonists of the second edition of Mod'Arte at the Correale Museum in Sorrento. The event, which transforms the museum halls into fashion shows, repeats its success and confirms the combination of spectacle and beauty.
The collections presented during the evening hosted by Patrizia Pellegrino and Matilde Brandi, with hilarious comic interludes by actress and impersonator Valentina Persia, were welcomed with evident enthusiasm. Inspired by the sea, the female path in history, universal feelings and the excellent Made in Italy, the fashion shows filled the halls with applause and wonder.
The designers chosen for the 2019 fashion shows were also officially awarded the Mod'Arte recognition. The Deputy Mayor of Sorrento Maria Teresa De Angelis, also on behalf of the Mayor Giuseppe Cuomo, who was present at the event, awarded the eclectic designer from Campania Gianni Molaro. The President and Director of the Correale Museum, Gaetano Mauro and Filippo Merola, awarded the “fashion poet” Vittorio Camaiani. The President of the Rotary Club Sorrento Antonio Ruocco, together with the lawyer Michele Liccardi, one of the promoters and supporters of the initiative, then awarded the prize to the passionate and creative madame Eleonora Altamore. And finally, the presidents of the associations Le Amiche del Museo Correale, Inner Wheel and Fidapa BPE Sezione Penisola Sorrentina, respectively Margherita Liccardi, Anna Coppola and Giovanna Maglio, awarded the research for innovation combined with respect for the sartorial tradition of Renato Balestra.
The proceeds of the initiative, organized by GAR Eventi di Gianna Azzaro in collaboration with the Correale Museum, with the patronage of the Municipality of Sorrento and the Rotary Club Sorrento and with the support of the associations Le Amiche del Museo Correale, Inner Wheel and Fidapa, will contribute to the restoration of the works of the Sorrento museum house. «The Correale continues this delicate and exciting cultural marketing operation – explains President Gaetano Mauro – thanks to the sensitivity and collaboration of entrepreneurs, associations and citizens in love with our city. Through the Correale Museum we promote Sorrento, and vice versa. I would like to thank, in addition to the associations that have always supported us, the director Filippo Merola and the staff of the Correale Museum. I also thank all the hotels that contributed to this evening: Grand Hotel Aminta, Grand Hotel Flora, Grand Hotel Ambasciatori, Grand Hotel de la Ville, Hotel la Meridiana, Hotel Zi Teresa and Hotel Gardenia». The “Adopt a work of art” initiative continues with which masterpieces at risk are being recovered. "The canvases that we are restoring thanks to initiatives such as Mod'Arte, express ideas of personal, social and cultural identity between past and future. They represent the sense of belonging of the Sorrentines to the territory, to the culture and to the history of the artistic heritage that the Correale Museum preserves. Initiatives that the Museum intends to pursue for the best possible cultural and management offer" concludes the director of the Museum Filippo Merola.
