"Notte d'Arte is a moment to discover or rediscover the many places in our city, which know how to enchant tourists and visitors, and offer a great opportunity for quality entertainment, worthy of an international city like Sorrento - said Councilor Massimo Coppola - After the success achieved last year, we have decided to propose the event again. Citizens and guests will be able to enjoy a very rich program of events that ranges between the most disparate genres, from circus art to photography, from gastronomy to classical music and jazz concerts, hosted in places that are symbols of the artistic and cultural heritage of Sorrento, such as the Cloister of San Francesco, the Correale Museum or Villa Fiorentino, which will remain open until late at night. It is a project in which we believe, aimed at catalyzing the attention of new segments of tourism, increasingly important for the local economy".
“As Fondazione Sorrento we have always focused on great art to offer residents and tourists the opportunity to admire the works of twentieth-century masters – underlines the CEO of Fondazione Sorrento, Gaetano Milano – For this reason we immediately made ourselves available to participate in this second edition of Notte d'Arte during which Villa Fiorentino will remain open until 2:00 to allow you to visit the exhibition dedicated to Henri Matisse, one of the main Italian cultural events of the year. For music lovers, instead, in the park of the Villa we will host the first evening of the Lemon Jazz Festival 2019 with the concert of the duo Tuck & Patty. This second event is free admission”.
Also for music lovers, there are classical concerts scheduled at the churches of Santa Maria della Pietà, San Paolo, Sant'Antonino, Santissimo Rosario and dell'Addolorata, jazz in the municipal villa, and Neapolitan classical at the Correale Museum in Terranova (info 0818781846). Here, until 2:00 am, it will also be possible to access the rooms for free, to admire the three floors full of history, from archaeological finds to painters of the Posillipo School. "The Correale Museum will take part in the long white night of the "Notte d'Arte" event with its precious artistic heritage, as an opportunity to participate in a cultural evening dedicated to art and beauty, in order to discover and appreciate even more the richness of its collections - says the director of the Correale Museum Filippo Merola - It is without a doubt one of the most important cultural events with the aim of enhancing art and culture". More art at the Libreria Tasso with a workshop held by the artist Vincenzo Stinga, at the Syart Gallery, with an exhibition of works by contemporary artists, while the cloister of San Francesco and the Church of the Addolorata host two exhibitions by the photographer Raffaele Celentano. Space for children in Piazza Angelina Lauro, with the show “Il Giardino Incantato – Alice in Wonderland” and in Piazza Tasso with the circus art of the Poliwedrici and the Bipolar Circus. Madonnari, freestyle champions, mimes and other street artists will finally liven up Corso Italia, not without a stop at the Villa Comunale and Villa Fiorentino to taste street food products.
“The Museum has enthusiastically joined the second edition of “Notte d'Arte”, a winning format that will surely repeat the success of the first edition, which saw the influx of a large number of visitors – declared the president of the Correale Museum Gaetano Mauro – The Museum will remain open until 2 am to allow tourists and Sorrentines to visit it for free and enjoy the great artistic heritage it holds. Furthermore, for lovers of classical and Neapolitan music it will be possible, for a fee, to attend the concerts that will be held at 19.00 pm and 21.00 pm in the Sala degli Specchi. Finally, the appointment with “Mod'arte” is scheduled for Sunday 7 July at 19.30 pm. This event, which was so successful and appreciated in the first edition, will host nationally and internationally famous stylists. It will be presented by Patrizia Pellegrino and Matilde Brandi, with entertainment by Valentina Persia, followed by a standing buffet on the panoramic terrace of the Museum. It will be possible to participate in the event by paying a modest contribution that will be used for the restoration of works from the Museum's collections."
