"Sto tutto fusion," Ciccio Merolla's latest album, is out July 12th. Ten tracks tackle burning, contemporary issues through his drumming, rhymes, and subtle irony. It's a work with an anti-racist sound that puts the artist back at the center of his mission: to raise awareness. Following recent news stories like the Sea Watch case and events related to violent social media, Merolla states: "My drum set encompasses instruments drawn from diverse cultures. Studying this type of instrument inevitably opens you to the study of peoples far from our own, and from this diversity I draw richness." His music is a blend of influences that reaches a broader discourse that "embraces a philosophy of life, being in union with the universe, being fused with one another, in cosmic harmony," he states. Ten tracks that speak of integration between peoples, of caring for the vulnerable, songs that value the concept of the soul, that invite us to be "human," that, through irony, criticize the alienation and violence of social media and that society that rushes by and ignores those who are alone, those who are different. A "Fusion" album where the fusion begins with sonic contamination, passing through a state of dissent from the wave of rampant hatred, "until it becomes a means of spreading awareness that opening our arms is the only possible solution towards a different world."
